In summer 2004, the City of Frankfurt and the private landowners of Frankfurt’s former rail freight depot and shunting yard agreed on an urban development concept and the joint infrastructure development of what would then be the Europa quarter and to expand the trade fair complex.
Prior to the start of construction, roads needed to be realigned and new connections made to the urban network. Since the plan envisages the 100-hectare site being developed in phases, infrastructure will likewise be provided in stages that even include temporary infrastructure facilities.
PROPROJEKT was commissioned with overall co-ordination of the infrastructure development. The focus was on structuring the co-ordination, decision-making and approval processes between the parties involved and liaising with the City of Frankfurt.
