Controlling
school building projects

Alongside its ordinary tasks, the Municipal Department of Education and Women is running 50 school building projects within the scope of the package of measures initiated by the German Federal Government “preserving jobs and strengthening the economic system”. A detailed analysis of the original budgeted costs for school buildings reveals that the majority of construction projects will entail considerable excess costs compared to the initial estimates submitted to the Federal State of Hesse. For this reason, as the developer involved the Frankfurt Municipal Education Department has endeavoured put effective controlling in place.

PROPROJEKT was commissioned to undertake a detailed gap analysis in order to ensure the estimates budgeted were more realistic. To this end, management of requirements specifications is being strictly monitored and the interfaces between the Education Construction Dept. and the Planning & Building Dept. has been harmonised to enable transparent negotiations to enable an improved decision-making basis for the City Council and Municipal Administration.
