In the 1960s, in keeping with the vision of a modern car-friendly city typical of the day, the Viernheim City Hall was erected in a central downtown location. Today, the building has significant structural and architectural shortcomings and no longer meets the needs of a contemporary municipality. Comprehensive modernisation was required to reflect urban, architectural, functional and specifically energy-related criteria. The discussion of the possible options for modernisation ranged from renovation to demolition to give way for a new building.
In the wake of an architectural and urban assessment conducted by AS&P, PROPROJEKT evaluated the feasible investment and financing models and tabled recommendations on how best to move the project forward.
