Egypt boasts a culture and history that goes back more than 5,000 years and is renowned for its great passion for sports. With its capital Cairo it envisages hosting major sport events in the course of a medium to long-term development strategy. As a first step, a feasibility study was commissioned evaluating the potential of placing Egypt on the international major sports events map.
The Egypt Ministry of Tourism in close cooperation with the National Sports Council commissioned PROPROJEKT together with AS&P, abold and Cairo-based GRID to undertake a comprehensive analysis of the infrastructure of metropolitan Greater Cairo as regards its suitability for major sport events. The consulting services comprise a detailed assessment of the potential of venues, transportation, accommodation, environment and financing and also included developing a preliminary master plan and a communications strategy.
